District 6970 is very proud of its four Outbound students, who are in the spring of the 2025-26 school year, having the experience of a lifetime – living in another country with host families, learning a new language, embracing a different culture, and building a worldwide network through Exchange.

This month, we are featuring Jay from Newberry, FL, who is sponsored by the Rotary Club of Gainesville Sunrise. Jay is spending her Exchange year in Uberaba, Brazil, hosted by Rotary District 4770. She recently shared the following:

“This weekend I traveled to Brasília to celebrate Carnaval with my host family. We went to a party, visited some monuments, went shopping, and had dinner with my host mom’s cousins.

In the past few months, I’ve been spending most of my time on schoolwork and personal goals. I’ve been keeping a steady routine and continuing to improve my Portuguese. I also attended a Rotary meeting recently with all the clubs in my host city, Uberaba. I surprised myself with how much I could understand and how well I could speak!

I’m grateful for Rotary’s continued support and am making the most of my exchange experience!”
